Our First Two Weeks of Preschool

We had such a fun first two weeks of preschool. I have a great class! The girls in my class are so sweet and they play and work together so well. I am loving my all girl class. Each of the girls is fun and unique. They all have such cute personalities!

This month our theme is "the alphabet." We have practiced learning each letter, it's name, sound, and how to write it. We are working on our handprint alphabet book too which has been a lot of fun. These girls loved to paint their hands!

Here is what we do each day at school:

When the students first arrive, we each do a puzzle and then play together for a few minutes.

Then we clean up and start our morning routine. First we sing two hello songs. Then the students identify their names and spell them with me. We go through ABC, number, shape, and color flashcards. We do it as a class and have individual turns. During this routine students can earn pom poms for looking at our flashcards, answering correctly, and sitting in learning position. When our pom pom jar is full we get to have a party at preschool!

We work on fine motor skills by tracing letters on our whiteboards. Then we talk about our calendar, month of the year (they are getting really good at this song!) and days of the week. Then we all go over to the window and look at the weather to post on our weather center.

After our circle time, comes the girls' favorite... snack time! I often get asked as we are doing flashcards, "is it time for snack yet?" :)

After snack it is time for worksheets. I do a lot of helping right now because most of the girls are just learning how to hold a pencil and start to write. When they are done with their worksheets, they come and get it "graded" and if they didn't do any scribbling, they get a Bri's Buck! (five Bri's Bucks gets you to the treasure box). Students put their Bri's Bucks and worksheet in their folder and then in their backpack. Then we do our art time. Our alphabet handprint books are coming along great. So far we are through K for Koala.

After art we have story time. Then we go downstairs and put our shoes on. We practice standing in a single file line with our backpacks and go outside to meet parents. We usually do bubbles outside, the girls love it.

I am so happy to have such a great class. We are going to have an AWESOME year!!
