Learning Shapes

We started a new theme this month: SHAPES! Our worksheets and art projects revolve around the different shapes we are learning. So far we have cut out ovals and dot painted octagons. We've made a square collage and used spaghetti to create shapes. We made a cute heart man this week, too. We also learned a new song for our shape theme. It starts out "a circle's like a ball, a circle's like a ball. Round and round it never stops, a circle's like a ball." They love to sing it!

Last week our Focus Wall displayed C, rectangle, and 4. We worked during our morning routine on recognizing and writing them:

This week our Focus Wall was D, circle, and 5:

Pretty good! I am encouraged at how much progress they have made with writing on their own. I'm also excited that during our morning routine they do great on their individual turns. When I quiz them individually on their letters, shapes, and numbers I have seen so much improvement these last 2 weeks! Yay! They are also doing great with calendar and season information. We sing "months of the year," "days of the week," "Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall" and it is sounding great!

The girls have also improved so much on writing their names.

Next week is Fall Break. Each student was sent home with a packet to work on for 15 minutes each day. I have a special treat for students who bring their packets back on the 21st. See you then!
