PreK Class Coming this Fall

Here's a look at our preschool schedule! 

We start with snacks and puzzles. While the children are snacking and puzzling, I get to work on with them one on one with their reading. Each child moves at a different pace with the reading curriculum, so each day I read with them to assess if they can move forward. I am always amazed to see these little 4 year olds pick up reading so well. 

After I have worked with each child we move in to our preschool room and start on our preschool routine. We review the calendar, ABCs and phonics, new reading curriculum sounds, colors, shapes, and numbers. We also sing some fun learning songs.  They practice spelling their name and sounding words out. We also play games together like the Letter Monster or Mr. Penguin. 

After we finish our preschool routine, we review some of what we've learned on our whiteboards. The children earn Bri's Bucks for participating during circle time and working on their whiteboards. Then we have a fun lesson and worksheet centered on our theme for the month (see below for a list of monthly themes). I will check off each of their work and give more Bri's Bucks. When they have 10 Bri's Bucks they get to go to the treasure box. 

Next is an art project! These are usually centered around our monthly themes as well. 

We finish off our preschool day with story time, free play, and then parent pickup! We stay busy and have a great time.

Space Theme!

Learning about space was so fun this month! We learned about planets, constellations, and moon phases. 

We learned a new version of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star that helps us remember all the planets in the Milky Way. 

This month we also went on a fun field trip to Papa Murphys. We saw how they mixed the dough and shaped it into round pizzas. We got to go into the big refrigerator where they keep all the toppings. Each child got to assemble their own pizza to take home. 

We had some fun for St. Patricks day too! We made these cute leprechaun hats with beards and went on a treasure hunt. 

There have been a few days in March when it was warm enough to go outside for playtime at the end of preschool. They have so much fun together outside. 

We are working hard to get ready for kindergarten! Jace and Ruby started reading recently and they are doing great. We have some kiddos up to level 24 in the Read at 3 program. I am excited for all they are learning. 

The Body Theme

We started off in February by celebrating Groundhogs Day! We made these cute groundhogs. 

This month we learned all about our body! We learned about our 5 senses and played a fun game where we had to use different senses to guess mystery items. I love watching the kids play this game! We made hands that taught us about the sense of touch. 

We had a fun Valentines Day party! We passed out valentines, played a punch the heart prize game and Valentines bingo. We frosted sugar cookies, played heart matching, and made Valentines. 

Outside of our monthly theme we are working hard on standard preK and kinder standards. Almost all of the preschoolers are reading now! Hurray! We continue to work on sounds, letters, numbers, shapes, names, and more. 

We had a fun time learning about different body parts and our body song. We learned about bones and organs and made posters to show all we learned. We practiced with our different body parts each time we met and we'll continue to review in hopes they will hold onto all they learned this month!
