We have finished our theme of Shapes for the month of October.
These last two weeks our focus has been:
E, 6, and diamonds
F, 7, and pentagons
We learned additional shapes during our art projects and worksheet time. This month we've tried to stick to simple projects to help the girls practice their cutting skills. I've seen so much improvement with cutting these last couple of weeks. Hurray!
We cut out trapezoids and painted them with our dots paints. We made xylophones with different sized rectangles (lots of cutting). We made pentagons with q-tips, and triangle trees. We learned about crescents and made a space scene with star stickers.
We also had the best Halloween party! The girls got to wear their fun costumes. The first hour of preschool was class time. After we complete our preschool morning routine, we went downstairs for our party.
First we frosted sugar cookies (and ate them of course!)
We played a spider web game where the girls had to balance on the web and collect the spiders without stepping on the ghosts. They didn't understand how to "balance on the web" very well, but it was still fun.
We had a pumpkin balancing race. The girls had a hard time keeping the pumpkins on their heads so they held them on. Cayleigh was the only one that could walk with a pumpkin balanced on her head, hands free. Very impressive Cayleigh.
We played pin the tie on the skeleton.
We went "pumpkin bowling."
We completed a fun skeleton art project. Each girl received a bag of skeleton parts. Each part was numbered 1-6. We took turns rolling a die. When we rolled a number you had to find that number on your skeleton part and glue it to your paper. We played until they had a full skeleton.
We matched number candy corn pieces after that.
To close the party we read a few Halloween stories I found at the library.
I was so grateful that each student had a family member there to have fun with. It was a great party and we have such a great class of kids and parents. Thank you everyone for coming!
